Sabrina Fortune has designs on making 2024 a year to remember inside and outside the shot put circle. One of the world’s best F20 throwers, Fortune has her sights on success at the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe this May and the Paris Paralympics in August.

Wales’ fastest woman Hannah Brier gained one championship record and lost another on a historic weekend of athletics in Cardiff. The first record to fall at the Welsh Indoor Senior and Under-15 Athletics Championships was the number of competitors taking part.

On the day rugby superstar Louis Rees-Zammit jetted off to Florida in pursuit of his American football dream, two Welsh track and field athletes continued to take the world of bobsleigh by storm. Reigning British shot put champion Adele Nicoll and Welsh international sprinter Kya Placide teamed-up to win British Bobsleigh’s first Europa Cup gold medal for seven seasons with success in St Moritz on Friday morning. They took top spot for the first time in their bobsleigh careers less than 24 hours after Nicoll secured silver in the monobob event at the same venue.

British middle distance star Laura Muir paid a surprise flying visit to Cardiff on Sunday afternoon and came away with a World Indoor Athletics Championship qualifying time. The Tokyo Olympics 1500m silver medallist was competing as a guest in the Welsh 3,000m championship race at the Cardiff Metropolitan University Christmas Classic meeting.
