Aaron Ramsey will miss Wales’ next two Nations League matches – as well as around a dozen games for Cardiff City – after being ruled out with yet another hamstring injury.

The Wales captain picked up the injury during his 15-minute cameo appearance at the end of the 2-1 win in Montenegro earlier this month.

He missed the Championship game at Derby County last weekend, when Cardiff slumped to a fifth successive defeat to remain bottom of the table, and has now been ruled out for at least the next two months.

“It’s an injury which will take a few weeks, and he will have a scan in two weeks’ time,” explained under-fire Cardiff manager Erol Bulut.

“According to the medical staff, he could be out for between eight and 10 weeks.”

The Bluebirds welcome Leeds United to the Welsh capital on the weekend for a vital game that will also double as a tribute to Sol Bamba, who played with distinction for both clubs. Bamba lost his battle with cancer at the end of last month at the age of 39.

Ramsey was ruled out for five months last season at exactly the same time with a knee injury and as well as missing more games for his club, he will also now be unable to play for Craig Bellamy’s Wales side against Iceland on 10 October and Montenegro at home four days later.

Ramsey’s return to his home town club was undermined by injuries last season as he made only seven League starts and six substitute appearances for the Bluebirds in a campaign ruined by a knee problem.

Now, he is sidelined again in what has become a frustrating period in his career for the 33-year-old, who started the season by appearing in Cardiff’s opening four games.
